In-house Counsel Competition Law Webinar Series 2021

The International In-House Counsel Journal Competition Conference returns for its eighth year, providing a trusted, collaborative environment for in-house counsel to network with global peers and benchmark their competition strategy.

Usually held at the Law Society in London, this time we have created a series of 3 one hour webinars enabling you to catch up on the latest trends in competition law without having to catch a taxi, train or plane! Discover, without having to leave the comfort of your office, how competition regulations will develop, be enforced and the outlook for the next 12-18 months.

Taking place On-line, senior counsel from around the world return year after year to learn about the latest regulatory developments that could impact their strategy, and to develop their own internal competition law framework.

Webinar Tuesday 27th April 16.30 (UK Time) - Duration 60 minutes

The Future of Competition and Regulation in the Digital Economy

For several years France and Germany (along with others) have pushed for competition law reform and greater consideration of industrial policy (particularly following the EC’s prohibition of Siemens/Alstom).

The last few years saw the publication of several reports exploring theories of harm related to the operation of markets involving digital platforms. These studies have been followed by competition reform proposals including ex-ante regulation in the UK, Germany, France and Italy.

The European Commission proposed the Digital Markets Act in December of last year.

What do these reforms mean for the future of competition enforcement and economic regulation in the digital economy, and perhaps even more broadly?

Moderator: Anne MacGregor - Managing Director, Competition, FTI Consulting

Panelists:

Kristana Barbov - Head of International Telecoms Policy and Regulation, Ofcom

Rebecca Larsen - Manager, Regulatory Strategy, Liberty Global

Kay Jebelli - Competition and Regulatory Counsel, Computer and Communications Industry Association
