Companies operating in the global economy confront constant threats to the physical security of their people, information and assets. Civil unrest, terrorism, cyber-terrorism, hackers, economic espionage, workplace violence and the laws designed to control or prohibit such activities produce a difficult operating environment for any global enterprise. This presentation will provide a brief overview of the sometimes conflicting laws and issues with insights into techniques to manage and mitigate the risks presented by an often tumultuous world.

Walt Addison Linscott, Esq. is the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Carestream Health, Inc. which is headquartered in Rochester, New York, USA. He is responsible for all legal, compliance and security issues affecting the company worldwide. His experience spans three decades and prior to his current role at Carestream, Mr. Linscott spent seventeen years in private law practice where he founded the Atlanta, Georgia office of an international law firm and served as the Chair of its global Life Science practice. In addition to his private practice experience, he has served as the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of an international branded pharmaceutical company where he was responsible for global legal, public and government affairs. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Linscott served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps where he commanded an anti-terrorist force and had responsibility for the safety and security of nuclear weapons. He is a graduate of the University of Dayton School of law as a Dean's Scholar and Managing Editor of the Law Review. He has completed the program in Negotiation at Harvard Law School and recently completed the Global Strategic Leadership program at the University of Oxford, UK.
