The content of the main International In-house Counsel Journal is overseen by an editorial board that meets 4 times a year to discuss content and determine which papers are accepted for publication.

The board is drawn from a range of industry sectors and jurisdiction with considerable international knowledge.

Marianne Slivkova, Senior Corporate Counsel, Acorda Therapeutics, USA
Marianne Slivkova is Director, Legal, Commercial at Acorda Therapeutics. She is primarily responsible for providing legal advice on legal risk, interpretation of FDA advertising regulations, PDMA, healthcare fraud and abuse, product liability, privacy, antitrust statutes and regulations, as well as other federal and state laws, and company policies and procedures to U.S. marketing, sales and medical management, as well as advising on ex-US issues. Prior to joining Acorda, Ms. Slivkova was Senior Corporate Counsel at BMS, and during 2012, she served as the interim head of BMS’s Japanese legal department in Tokyo. Before becoming an in-house attorney, Ms. Slivkova was a Senior Litigation Associate at Moses & Singer in New York City, and at Dewey Ballantine LLP. Ms. Slivkova holds a Master’s of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health, a Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law, and a Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia College, Columbia University.

Brian Swartz, EVP, Legal & Commercial, Aecon Group Inc., Canada
Mr. Swartz has executive responsibility for managing a broad portfolio of corporate services including legal, corporate secretarial, risk management, bonding, and office/facility services to the Aecon group of companies. He has been actively involved in many major infrastructure and P3 initiatives in Canada and abroad including: Highway 407, Union Station Train Shed Renewal, Union Pearson Express, Ferihegy Airport (Hungary), Cross Israel Toll Highway, Nathpa Jhakri Hydroelectric Power Project (India), Quito International Airport (Ecuador), Pearson International Airport (Toronto), Darlington Nuclear Refurbishment, and many other projects. He was recently appointed to the Board of Advisors for Osgoode Hall Law School’s Professional Development Program. Mr. Swartz graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and has received a Cert. Arb from University of Windsor Law School and a certificate in Advanced Management from the Schulich School of Business, York University. Mr. Swartz serves as a mentor for the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association’s young lawyer mentoring program. In 2013, Aecon’s Legal department was awarded the distinction of “Best Canadian Legal Department” by the International Legal Alliance (Paris). In 2015, Mr. Swartz was honoured by the Ontario Bar Association with the Award in Excellence in Infrastructure and Construction Law. Also in 2015, the Aecon Legal Department won the Innovatio award from Canadian Lawyer Magazine for its development and adoption of Board and Corporate Policies on Diversity.

Dr. Armin J. KAMMEL, LL.M. (London), MBA (CLU), is Head of Legal & International Affairs with the Austrian Association of Investment Fund Management Companies (VÖIG) in Vienna. In addition to this, Dr. Kammel is Honorary Professor and Faculty Member at Danube University Krems, Austria and Adjunct Faculty Member at California Lutheran University (CLU). His research areas are European and US banking law, securities regulation, corporate law, regulatory theory and the Economic Analysis of the Law. Dr. Kammel has published extensively in these areas.

The Association of Austrian Investment Companies (Vereinigung Österreichischer Investmentgesellschaften, VÖIG) was founded on 20 January 1988, and is the umbrella organisation for all Austrian investment fund management companies and all Austrian real estate investment fund management companies. Matteo Grassani, Vice President Legal, BG Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan
Matteo Grassani is an Italian qualified lawyer, based in Milan. He has extensive experience in corporate, energy, real estate and project finance both in private practice (Clifford Chance and Chiomenti Rome) and primary standard companies (Head of Legal at Endesa Italia). He is currently head of legal at Bg Italia (BG Group Plc). He held classes at Luiss University of Rome both in 2010 and 2011 on energy related matters.

Walt Addison Linscott, Esq. is the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Cocrystal Pharma, Inc. a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company (OTC:COCP) developing anti-viral drugs for a variety of human diseases. European Central Bank

Description of the ECB’s activities According to Article 105(1) of the Treaty EC, the primary objective of the European System of Central Banks (the ESCB) is to maintain price stability. Without prejudice hereto, the ESCB shall support the general economic policies in the Community with a view to contributing to the achievement of the objectives of the Community. Nishat Ruiter currently serves as General Counsel to TED conferences, a non profit organization that believes passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world. Prior to that, Nishat worked as Managing Counsel at LivePerson, Inc. at a growing SaaS company in New York and worked for ten years as VP and Associate General Counsel at CA Technologies. At CA she provided guidance to the Chief Marketing Officer and their field teams on compliance and related issues involving social media, advertising and brands as well as training the field through unique and innovative tools such as a Legal Wiki. She also managed the North American commercial legal team for for all software licensing, services and SaaS. Prior to CA Technologies, Nishat worked for the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies as Commercial Lines Counsel; for Capco as Senior US Counsel; as Corporate Secretary and General Counsel of BinaryTree.Com and as matrimonial litigator in New York City.
