Doing Business in Brazil From a Tax Perspective

Abstract

For some years Brazil has been the option of some multinational companies when establishing their first presence in Latin America. As any another country, Brazil has its peculiarities such as a complex legal system, taxation regime and language, blended to a lot of benefits. Well, one thing is for sure: first, these companies must learn how to deal with the challenges encompassed in this decision, especially the taxation matter. Latin America is a group of countries located in the Western Hemisphere, which population may speak Spanish, French or Portuguese. That´s the land in which Brazil is part of. Brazil is the largest country in Latin America in terms of area and population. We are talking about 8.5 million square kilometers, which over 7 thousand is coastline and over 208 million people. That´s the reason why Brazil is the world's fifth-largest country by area and the sixth-most populous. So that, it is not a surprise to say that this huge country called Brazil covers 47.3% of the continent's land area and, as a great consequence, it is a place with a unique environmental heritage that makes itself one of 17 megadiverse countries.
