Role of In-House Legal in Construction Projects in India

Abstract

The structure of the construction industry in India is similar to anywhere else in the globe. Since the role and structure of the In-House Legal Departments in each industrial sector depends upon the industrial culture, practices and the statutes prevailing in those industries in the region, there is related variation in India from what exists in other countries. Presently India is in construction mode. Construction of infrastructure, roads, highways, ports, airports, metro railways, power projects, townships, SEZ, malls, hospitality projects and so on are taking place all over. Construction is very hectic and the industry is booming. It has re-bounced with added vigour and spirit after the set-back during the economic down-turn of about past two years. The effort and focus now is to achieve the best in international standards.
