'Less law is better' - The Irish company law review

Abstract

Major new reformed and consolidated Irish company law is imminent. The Companies Consolidation and Reform Bill, which has been in gestation for several years, is due to be published shortly and will bring significant positive new changes to Irish company law. It reflects the work of the Irish Company Law Review Group, and incorporates its recommended policy changes together with a multitude of technical amendments. Aimed at improving ease of use of company law, encouraging better compliance and more targeted enforcement, the new law will make life easier for users, business and regulator alike.

The Irish Business and Employers Confederation (IBEC) provides a wide range of services to over 7,000 member businesses and organisations from all sectors and of all sizes is the umbrella body for Ireland’s leading sectoral groups and associations is the national voice of Irish business and employers IBEC works to shape policies and influence decision-making in a way that develops and protects members' interests and contributes to the development and maintenance of an economy that promotes enterprise and productive employment. Through our Brussels office, the Irish Business Bureau (IBB), IBEC works on behalf of business and employers at European level to ensure that European policy is compatible with our own objectives for the development of the Irish economy. Economic affairs, employee relations, pay, employment, taxation, competition, the environment, trade, transport, sectoral matters -these are just some of the wide range of issues on which we work and serve our members on a daily basis. We develop and review policy on such topics through consultation with our members, undertaking our own research, and seeking expert advice and opinion. A 'wallet' size membership card summarising all IBEC services and key information contact points is now available for existing members.
