Brazilian Data Protection Law and its first Impacts

Abstract

Following the global movement of countries to protect the personal data of national people, Brazil has definitely plunged into this theme by making the Brazilian data protection law applicable in the middle of the second quarter of 2020 (locally called "LGPD") promulgated on 2018. This article explores the initial concepts of the Brazilian LGPD, the political and structural movements of the country in the first steps of the Law, it also brings recent data leakage event examples and the vision of an in-house lawyer of a regulated sector company to resume this initial scenario of a new digital economy that arrived precisely because of the LGPD.
