Creating a Legal Smart Grid

Abstract

This article describes the benefits of creating a virtual network, designed to offer part-time lawyers and retirees a way back into the workforce in the most efficient manner, for the benefit of in-house legal departments. What do you do when after many years in-house with the same Company, you suddenly find yourself on the street following an internal restructuring? Or you reach retirement age, but do not wish to mow the lawn for your remaining 20 year life expectancy? Or you take time out to have children? Traditionally in such circumstances, one’s career was heavily compromised, if not over. Theoretically of course, one option was part-time working. However, companies have been reluctant to embrace the concept of “part-time lawyers”. However, there is no natural law which decrees things have to stay that way, here, in the 21st Century.
