The Infrastructure Sharing's Regulation as a Competition Fostering Factor in the Telecommunications Market Worldwide

Abstract

Telecom markets worldwide are growing rapidly and regimes with public service providers are certainly in decline as the remaining markets subject to such regimes are either transitioning to a privatized status or have already done so. In fact, the current level of sophistication of telecommunications around the world are making new technologies such as 3G, 4G, Wimax, Wifi, services packages like triple-ways (phone-TV-internet) and others, generate strong pressure on the market for investment in networks of telecom operators. Competition in the sector is serious and government regulations take a relevant role when it comes to encouraging carriers to collaborate among themselves avoiding economic power abuses and allowing new entrants or even services expansions by incumbents to work efficiently in behalf of the growth of telecommunications. Carriers seek cheaper and more efficient technology to offer better services in an effort to satisfy the hungry demand of telecommunication consumers today
