The new EFPIA Disclosure Code – Is the Need for Transparency Outweighing Data Privacy Compliance?

Abstract

European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) adopted on 24 June 2013, the EFPIA Disclosure Code, that is a code of conduct which obliges its member companies, from 2016, onwards, to make public the details of payments and transfers of value made to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and healthcare organizations (HCOs). The first disclosures will be made in June 2016 and will concern information about Transfers of Value ( ToV) made in 2015. In order to help its Members to be prepared for that obligation, EFPIA has launched a new website: --“Pharmadisclosure.eu”—aiming to highlight the new disclosure rules, follow best practices in the implementation of the Disclosure Code and monitor compliance in the 33 countries involved in the initiative (i.e. the 28 EU member states, plus Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and Serbia).
