Abstract

We live in an exciting age. Advances in technology are coming at a pace, and having an impact on every-day life, unrivalled since the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, the automobile was a major advance, as were inventions such as the telephone and the spread in the use of electricity. Some of those inventions are now entering into new and fascinating phases with the advent of the Sharing Economy, autonomous vehicles and the emerging Internet of Things. As was the case with their predecessors, each of these important innovations appear poised to bring numerous benefits to society, ranging from ease of mobility and increased road safety to health care advances and prevention of property damage.
