John Cowell is General Counsel and is responsible for the legal, governance and compliance functions of Healthdirect Australia Ltd., a company owned by the Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments. In the emerging field of medtech and e-health law, John negotiates funding agreements with Australian jurisdictions to procure and contract complex, multi transactional outsourced arrangements that span the globe. With over 20 years PQE, John has extensive experience in corporate and commercial advisory having held legal and governance roles with multinational corporations in Bangladesh, China, India, Singapore, South Korea and the UAE. In his spare time, John serves as Deputy Chair for Child Abuse Prevention Services Inc. and has volunteered for the Red Cross soup kitchens since 2012.
