Nicole Iseppi has substantial experience within the IPP, IWPP and Renewable Energy sectors of Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and European regions for the past 17+ years. She is the only professional in the international energy industry, who has worked directly in-house as a senior legal and strategic adviser in both the world’s largest IPP global energy company - ENGIE (formerly GDF Suez) and one of the world’s largest project finance lenders - Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). She assists and advises such leading international companies in the successful delivery of their respective energy related interests, strategies and infrastructure investments. Nicole has kindly received various industry awards and acknowledgements over the years, including the award for “Global Energy Lawyer/Adviser of the Year for 2017” from Global-100 and the Lawyer Monthly Global International Awards, this year. Nicole was appointed in 2016 as a Project Director for the Terrawatt Initiative and also co-leads the TWI & IRENA’s “Global Solar Energy Standardisation Initiative'. Nicole has also been working with ENGIE since the beginning of 2010 and is currently acting also as the Associate Director for ENGIE’s Global Centralised Generation business. Where she and her team is responsible for the formulation of ENGIE's growth strategy with respect to its global centralised generation business and responsible also for the development of new markets, new business opportunities and innovative business models to support ENGIE's objective of transitioning to a low carbon generation portfolio. Nicole has worked in the past as a foreign legal practitioner in Japan and has the professional qualifications as a Solicitor in England & Wales, Practitioner of the High Court of Australia and a Barrister & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia. She is a regular speaker at various global energy & finance conferences, including as part of the Global Power and Global Finance Panels of experts for the International Bar Association (IBA). She has also been appointed by her peers as an official committee member on the IBA Global Power Law Committee. It is not often the industry comes across a professional who in their career to date has had such a depth of unique, high calibre and leading international energy infrastructure experience as Nicole and she says she “still has a lot more she would like to be part of, contribute too and achieve, within the industry.”
