Future of Work in an Age of Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Technology

Abstract

I wrote this article to create greater awareness of the interconnection between work and technology and as a small contribution towards the wider, collective efforts for a human-centric future with inclusive and shared prosperity. My article is divided into 5 sections : introduction in Section 1; revisiting the historical interconnection between technology and work as the guiding principle for the present and future use of automation, artificial intelligence and technology in Section 2; the insights gleaned from past technological unemployment which serve as guideposts on the changes needed to create a human-centric future with inclusive and shared prosperity Section 3; detailing my proposals for a human-centric future of work with inclusive and shared prosperity in Section 4 and my concluding remarks in Section 5.
