Tyson Foods, Inc. Legal and Environmental Coordination to Address Environmental Challenges and Guide Corporate Decision Making

Abstract

Environmental law is receiving enhanced focus within corporations as the demand for action on climate change and sustainable development by governments, advocacy groups, and others moves beyond academic theory and becomes embedded into corporate culture. Tyson Foods, Inc. (Tyson), like many other leading companies, is developing new initiatives and proactive strategies to effectively address the current expectations of its customers, employees, suppliers, and regulators, while also trying to manage traditional compliance obligations. These tasks must be accomplished as the company attempts to anticipate the regulatory environment of the future in order to structure policies and capital investment in a manner that provides for cost savings and reduces the transactional costs of future compliance.
