Abstract

The Indian economy with a GDP size of $2.13 trillion is the 8th largest in the world and is currently growing at between 5-6% (down from 8-9% less than 5 years ago but expected to revive once a new government is in place based on the 2014 Central elections whose results are expected shortly). It has a current population of 1.3 billion (of which almost half belongs to its work force). India has the largest pool of technically qualified graduates in the world and currently almost 1 million students graduate out of its engineering colleges annually (although realistically more than half of them have to be re-skilled in order to be employable). In terms of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), India has been regarded as one of the top 3 global investment destinations and has attracted FDI of over $266 billion in the last 10 years.
