Life as an In-House Counsel in the Construction Industry

February 2016

Abstract

I am an English Qualified Solicitor who is currently working as Senior In-House Counsel for Samsung Engineering Co., Ltd (“SECL”) based in Seoul, South Korea; SECL is one of the world’s largest Engineering, Procurement, Construction (“EPC”) companies operating in the hydrocarbon, power, industrial and environmental construction markets. I started my professional career in private practice and moved In-House later on, making the move from having to serve the interest of many clients to having to serve the interest of only one client i.e. my employer. I have found out through that process that lawyers have many things in common with doctors, peace makers, warriors and nothing in common at all with magicians.
