Data Privacy Day 2016: A Review of Current European Data Protection Regulation

Abstract

The arrival of the 10th Data Privacy Day on 28 January may have been a timely reminder for in-house counsel to review their businesses’ compliance with ever-changing European data protection regulation. In this series of articles, Claire Walsh will examine the existing regulatory framework and upcoming changes, as well as practical steps which in-house legal departments can take to navigate the regulations and attain compliance. Part 1 of the series is a critical review of the existing regulatory framework in Europe.
