Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Driven Intelligent Platform for Intellectual Property Portfolio Management
Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is percolating to every stratum of human life. Apart from science and technology, AI is actively getting adopted in finance, trade and commerce, social sciences etc. But the acceptability of digital technology-based transformation is relatively low in legal domain. Though most of the major global corporation are hugely investing in intellectual property development and creating a healthy portfolio of patents, trademarks, copyrights, designs and trade secrets; management of such portfolio is either manual or simple push-pull based web repository. With huge changes in technology domains and impact on business line because of such changes, the Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio structure of an organization demands to be dynamic. This paper aims to bring forward an AI and big data driven intelligent platform for intellectual property portfolio management (IP2PM) which would make traditional IP repositories more efficient and business centric. The proposed IP2PM dynamically maintains an IP portfolio of an organization, make changes in the nomenclature system based on business and technology shifts and also has a future scope of predicting and prescribing portfolio strategies based on its data mining and analytics capability.
