The General Counsels Changing Role in ESG Transformation within the Mining and Extractives Industries

Abstract

The concept of ‘Sustainability’, also known as ‘ESG’ (environmental, social, and governance) has become not only a global buzz word, but has functioned as a compass for companies across industries, setting the trajectory and pace of its strategies and, for many, re-inventing their corporate purpose. No industry or country is immune, with sustainability traversing language and physical boundaries, with the mining and extractives industries very much on the radar.
