Legal Support on a Multi-Billion IT Outsourcing Project
Abstract
In the first quarter of 2008, Shell contracted to outsource the provision of its IT Infrastructure and Telecommunication services in 3 service bundles: Network and Telecommunications, End User Computing Services including desktop, back-up and disaster recovery, and Hosting and Storage. The outsourcing also meant that the suppliers not only took responsibility for provision of services but also for people, IT assets and projects. The legal work needed was immense and in this article I will describe a few steps that helped us in building the legal framework and contracts needed for this multi-billion outsourcing project.
