The Evolving Landscape of Artificial Intelligence Regulation in Latin America: Challenges, Opportunities, and a Path Forward

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rapidly emerged as one of the most transformative and disruptive technologies in human history. Its reach extends across diverse sectors, from predictive healthcare and innovative educational platforms to sophisticated financial systems, public safety mechanisms, environmental monitoring, and advanced agricultural management. At its core, AI is powered by complex algorithms and vast datasets, enabling systems to perform tasks once exclusive to human intelligence, such as recognizing intricate patterns in radiological images, generating human-like text, identifying individuals in large crowds, assessing creditworthiness, optimizing energy consumption, and even guiding autonomous vehicles.
